Live in Peace (2 Corinthians 13:11)

Today’s scripture: 2 Corinthians 13:11

The Bible tells us that we as Christians are part of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). Each of us has a role to play, and all of us need to work together. Together, we can “be complete” and of “one mind.” We are to “live in peace.”

It’s not always easy, though, is it?

There always seem to be that committee member or small group leader that you just can’t seem to get along with. Living in peace seems to be a pipe dream.

The key in this verse may be that second sentence: “Be of good comfort.” If we’re focusing on providing comfort for others, on seeking to help them with their needs, then our eyes come off of us and onto them.

We can choose to live at peace with others, even if they’re difficult or different. We can choose to set our minds upon things of the Lord, and when we do, we can have confidence that God is with us, that His peace is with us.

Think about someone you have difficulty getting along with. Is it possible for you focus on him and his needs? Can you look at her through the eyes of Jesus? Pray that the Lord will give you compassion for that person, knowing that He will give you peace.
